Flutist J. Nicole Zenns maintains an active performance life alongside her position as a public school music teacher. A member of the Buffalo Musician's Union Local 92 since she was 16 years old, Nicole is a regularly requested sub with the Buffalo Philharmonic and has played with the WNY Chamber Orchestra, Bach and Beyond festival in Fredonia, NY, and numerous pit orchestras throughout the area, from the Struthers Theatre in Warren PA to Artpark in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Zenns is the director of bands at Cassadaga Valley Central School, where she is also the stage and pit director for the musical. She has been a NYSSMA All-State Woodwind adjudicator for several years, and is past-president of the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association. At the collegiate level, Mrs.
Zenns held the position of adjunct music education flute instructor at SUNY
Fredonia for several years, and also currently serves as a College Connections Instructor for music theory and music appreciation with Jamestown Community College. Nicole's passion for flute and interest in anatomy, yoga, and body work has led to being a student of the
Alexander Technique in recent years. She completed yoga teacher training in 2008, and continues to study, practice and teach yoga.
