Yiqun Zhao is a New York–based flutist and data scientist. She won the 2021 New York Flute Fair Competition for non-professional musicians and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Flute Club, as well as on the National Flute Association’s Performance Health Care Committee.
Yiqun has performed as a soloist in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, and plays in multiple flute choirs and orchestras. She is currently studying with Nicolas Duchamp.
In addition to her musical accomplishments, Yiqun holds a master’s degree in statistics from Harvard University—where she was one of eight merit-based commencement marshals among 1,000 graduates—and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where she was valedictorian. She also studied at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and works as a data science manager at a multinational consulting firm.
