Emilia Tamburri

A graduate of The Juilliard School (MM) and New England Conservatory (BM), Emilia’s award-winning music has been recorded, commissioned, and performed worldwide, including at Lincoln Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, Montclair State University, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, and Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany.


She has been programmed by The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, One World Symphony, and Grace Church Choir, and collaborated with the New York Choral Consortium to demystify the process of working with living composers.


Emilia was recognized by the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer award, The American Prize in both the chamber and orchestral divisions, and received two composition awards from New England Conservatory. She was accepted as a composition fellow at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Bowdoin International Music Festival, FUBIS, and Arts Letters and Numbers, and was supported by the Irene Diamond Fellowship to attend The Juilliard School. Her primary teachers include Samuel Adler, Robert Beaser, Lee Hyla, and Robert Aldridge.


Emilia is a passionate educator with a focus on composition and music theory. She is currently an administrator at Manhattan School of Music as well as a mentor to composition students at New England Conservatory. She is also a long-distance runner and human rights activist.
